The island of Vieques, Puerto Rico is a municipality of Puerto Rico and an island. The island still has a strong Spanish influence even though Puerto Rico has been a U.S. territory in recent centuries. Vieques has two major cities that are Esperanza and Isabel. Vieques functioned as a testing of combat and ground military firing range of the Navy. This led to a series of protests by local people and finally retired Navy from Vieques in 2003.
For many years, the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico was closed for use by the Navy. The island has very limited economic resources and not fully developed for tourism. The negative side of the island has become the primary key in the promotion of tourism. Because the island is promoted as the place of dreams, deserted beaches and unspoiled island where tourists want to come and experience the unspoiled environment and fresh to the area can do so without problems in Vieques.
Vieques Island, Puerto Rico has two bioluminescent bays perfect and wild horses running wild on the island. The bioluminescent bay is also called Bio Bay is considered the brightest and largest in the world. Apart from the beaches, you can also experience beautiful and attractive museums, City Hall, the ceiba tree is 300 years old, ports, plantations, sugar cane and underground bunkers in the U.S. Navy Vieques is also colorful fiestas and festivals. The Festival of the Epiphany is celebrated each January, the representation of the Passion is celebrated every Easter, Cultural Festivals are March, June, Traditional Festivals can appreciate the city and the Christmas Festival each December.
