Ahuahcapán is recognized by the numerous steam vents that are visible throughout tthe surrounding mountains as a result of local geothermal activity. The city is only an hour away from the fauna of El Imposible National Park.Ahuachapán was in the famous Salvadorian poet Alfredo Espino was born.
