Copa Air flies from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in Mayaguez, Ponce and Vieques several times a day. They also offer many daily flights to St. Thomas, St. Croix and Tortola. American Eagle is the leading companies short-haul flights and serves 37 destinations in the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
Car Hire Puerto Rico:
There is good news and bad news about driving in Puerto Rico. First, the good news is: Puerto Rico offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the Caribbean. Driving around Puerto Rico and discover the small hidden beaches, coastal towns, mountain villages, vast forests and national parks, is reason enough to visit the island. In fact, if you want to explore the island in deep, driving a private vehicle is the only way, since public transportation is very insufficient.
Of course, if you want to stay at San Juan, renting a car is not necessary. You may know San Juan on foot, by bus, taxi, and in some cases by bicycle.
Public Transport in Puerto Rico
Cars and minibuses known as Public provide cheap transport around the island. His plates have the letters “P” or “PD” after the numbers. They travel to all major cities of Puerto Rico, passengers are picked up along the way, both at designated stops or when someone puts the flags down. Rates are set by the Public Service Commission. Public transport usually operate during the day, leaving the main plaza (central square) in the city.

Rates vary depending on whether public transport, as this will make a detour to pick up or drop off a passenger at a specific location. (If you deviate from the default paths, you will pay more than if you expect a public service by the main road.) Fares from San Juan to Mayaguez start from $ 20 to $ 40, from San Juan to Ponce, from $ 20 to $ 40 as well. Note that although the public car prices are low, the routes are slow, with frequent stops and often a lot of discomfort.
